COVID-19

2021 Championship Show

The  Show Managers and committee regret that due to the continued fluctuating nature of the Covid regulations, they feel it would be unwise to proceed with plans to run our show in September.  We are sorry to have to disappoint our members yet again and have not taken the decision lightly. The reasons for our decision are based on both the logistical and financial consequences of  possibly having to cancel a show at a short notice.

On the 26th November 2005 the South West British Shorthair Cat Club held its inaugural meeting which was attended by a group of breeders and owners dedicated to the British Shorthair breed.

The aims and purposes of our club are:

  • To encourage and promote interest and understanding in the welfare, breeding and exhibiting of the British Shorthair

  • To support shows for the exhibiting of all cats

  • To provide the means for people interested in the breed and its welfare to meet together and discuss ideas and exchange useful information

We gained our affiliation to the GCCF in the Autumn of 2009 and then held our first show in 2011. We now hold a Championship Show here in the South West every year. Visit our News & Events page to find details of our next show.

We now have over 50 members and are always happy to welcome more - although based in the South West we welcome members from across the country and our membership currently includes British Shorthair lovers and breeders in Wales, the Midlands, London and Surrey. To find out more, visit our Membership page.
